About Agora
The quiet trade-off, and why we do not accept it.
In early childhood education, families are often presented with a quiet trade-off. Acceleration or emotional security. Structure or creativity. Academic rigour or child-led exploration.
Most schools say they give children both. The difference is whether that survives contact with a Tuesday morning. So judge us on an ordinary morning: what the adults say here is what they do in the room.

What we are
More than one thing, on purpose.
Playschool (with Weekend Wonders on weekend mornings), Preschool and Student Care share one centre, with enrichment classes from independent partners alongside. A child can move from a parent-accompanied morning, to Preschool, to being collected from school in the afternoon, without changing centres or starting again with adults who do not know them.
Underneath all of it there is one test we hold ourselves to: a child who keeps working after the adult has walked away. Everything in the centre is arranged to produce it, from a parent-accompanied morning to an afternoon after primary school.

The people
Parents do not name a curriculum. They name a person.
Read enough reviews of any school and you notice what families actually keep. It is almost never the curriculum, and it is almost always a particular adult on a particular morning.
Claire Michael, Head of Early Years
Claire runs Playschool and Preschool, and is an ECDA-certified Inclusion Officer. In her own account of why she is here, the thing that was missing in the schools she had worked in was coherence, and the fix was to change the question the adults ask each other.
Instead of asking, ‘What curriculum do we follow?’ we ask, ‘What does this child need next?’
Student Care
The parents who write about our Student Care tend to write about the same thing: that somebody took the time with their child, and then told them about it.

The answer to the question nobody asks out loud
We standardise principles, not personalities.
Every parent who has been through one preschool already knows the risk. You choose a school and you get a teacher, and then in March the teacher leaves.
The only honest defence against that is to make the practice the thing that is trained, so a different adult in the same room still does the same thing when a child gets stuck. Every Preschool teacher trains on the Agora Training Plan alongside outside programmes, and Preschool classes run at one teacher to six children. It is also why we would rather show you a room than hand you a set of values.
The move
We have moved, and it is the same school.
At the end of July 2026 we moved from HarbourFront Centre to the Fragrance Empire Building, 456 Alexandra Road, beside ARC.
Same programmes, same Head of Early Years, same way of working. What changed is the space. We are not going to describe rooms you have not stood in, so the invitation on every page of this site is the same one: come and look on an ordinary morning.

What families say
Quoted for what an adult did.
At the heart of Agora’s philosophy is its incredible head of Early Years director, Miss Claire. She doesn’t just manage the program … she listens.
A special thanks to the principal, Claire, whose leadership and support were instrumental in helping our family through those first few weeks. … my son had gone from tears at drop-off to genuinely loving his time at school.
I have learned so much myself from them even though I used to teach myself … it really is colearning!
My daughter has been here for a year. One day she suddenly wrote me a card: ‘Thank you mummy for sending me to Agora. I really like it!’ … It’s a huge relief to know she is in a place with caring teachers after school.
